The England manager has opted to stick with the same Three Lions selection that triumphed against Andorra and delivered an impressive performance in Belgrade during the previous international break, leaving no room for Jude Bellingham and the Manchester City attacker in his selection for the forthcoming friendly against Wales and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Although Foden pushing for a recall after regaining his top condition at his club, and Bellingham having made a comeback for his Spanish club following a surgical procedure, the head coach has decided against including two of the country's most prominent attacking talents. The young midfielder has started only once for his club since his return.

The England boss has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is back to fitness and has been restored in place of his unavailable club colleague the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not received a recall.

The manager has opted against selecting a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has selected John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. He has discussed the Manchester City defender's importance for England and has suggested deploying him in the middle of the park.

No spot has been found for the midfielder, who was selected last month but pulled out injured and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The manager stated: “A mere three weeks after the previous gathering and the last win, the last performance, so the consideration was why not bring the same group in because they set the standard. The focus now is on creating habits out of it. We have regrettably two injuries at the moment with Tino and Madueke and we bring of course Bukayo Saka in to take the place of Noni. Jarell Quansah was a last-minute addition last time; he will remain with the squad.”
